Charles Morang Obituary

Charles Norman Morang, 80, of Rochdale passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Christopher House in Worcester after multiple health complications.

He was born July 18, 1930 in Charlton, son of the late George and Ethel (Webb) Morang. He was predeceased by 8 brothers and 5 sisters including his twin Neal.  He retired from Thermo-Electron in Auburn in 1995. He could often be found fishing, throwing horseshoes, playing cribbage, or enjoying coffee with his loved ones, always with his dog by his side.  We will fondly remember his ability to laugh at life, his warm smile and his sheer will and stubbornness.

Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years Joan (Bassett) Morang, one son Thomas Placzek of Rochdale, five daughters: Donna Placzek wife of Tom Savage of California, Katherine wife of the late Douglas Clough, Vicki wife of John Muzzy all of Charlton,  Sharon wife of Herb Markle of Canastota, NY, Amy wife of Theodore Carr of Leicester. He also leaves, with pride, 22 grandchildren: Sara Placzek of Worcester, Matthew Placzek of  Shrewsbury, Kimberly Placzek and Jill (Clough) Battista both of Rochdale, Joshua Clough of Charlton, Lindsay (Morang) R.N. wife of Robert Lamothe of Sturbridge, Noelle (Markle) wife of Chance Bear of Syracuse, NY,  Nicole, Cassandra, Elizabeth, Samuel, Anne-Victoria, Charles, Katherine, Lillian, Lydia, and Natalie Markle of Canastota, NY,  Jane, Nicolas, Benjamin, Abigail and Truman Carr of Leicester, as well as 4 great grandchildren: Nolan, Ava, Zachary and Derek. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Madaline Carlson of Oxford is his sole surviving sister.

The family wishes to thank the Christopher House for its wonderful care. Special thanks to nieces Lisa Postma and Jean Leavitt for the love and care expressed toward Uncle Charlie.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 16th from 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon at Greenville Baptist Church, 674 Pleasant Street, Rochdale.  A funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association or Greenville Baptist Church. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is assisting with the arrangements.

Growing up, whenever we came to visit, we would always find you at the dining room table playing cribbage or domino's. I will always remember the time you and Dad tried to teach me to play and me barely understanding how. I wish we could have spent more time together and I will always remember those last days I got to spend with you in July.
My heart aches because of the hole you left in it.
Grandpa...I will love you forever and miss you always.

Uncle Norman I will never forget my time spent with you, gramma, and the other uncles. You made growing up fun and I will never let go of the fond memories I have with you. I regret so much waiting so long to see you, but I'm glad I finally got the chance to. Your family thinks the universe of you. A strong man like you will never be forgotten. I love you and aunt Joan so much and I promise to see her more. I hope your up there eating donuts and playing dominoes with gramma. I know she was probably waiting for your grand entrance. I miss you both and will see you again someday. Until next time...

Papa,
I miss you very much. And some day I know we will be reunited. I will never forget your laugther, compassion, stubborness, and most of all your pride for your family. You loved all 22 of us and were beyond proud of all of us and our achievements. You taught me so many things through out my life, that I will pass on to my family. But most of all, you never stop Believing in me, even when i lost hope on myself. All through Nursing school you were my biggest fan. You even said after i passed my boards, Lin I didnt even worry I knew you pass. NO doubt. Im thankful for all the memories and the love. You were my Papa and most of all my best friend. I will always be your Lin.
"There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true." My fondest memory of us. Lindsay
