Christy Skarani Obituary
Christy was born in Woonsocket, RI, on August 13, 1929 and was the son of the late Gregory Ligori Skarani and Effermia (Anastas) Skarani.
In addition to his wife, Christy is survived by a son, Christopher Mark Skarani of Daytona Beach, FL and Pomfret Center, CT; two sisters: Shirley Hanlon of Southbridge, MA and Helen Poulin and her husband George of Southbridge, MA; two brothers: Joe Skarani of Southbridge, MA and Henry Skarani and his wife Doris of Southbridge, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Carol Skarani and a brother-in-law, Reed Hanlon.
He was a member of the graduating class of Cole Trade High School, Class of 1947, and was the owner (along with his brothers and sisters) of Skarani's Market, American Lanes Bowling Alley, The American Motor Lodge, Globeamatic Vending and Skarbros Reality all of Southbridge and Sturbridge, MA.
The Skarani family has lived in Pomfret and have been active community members since 1971. Chris was a dear, kind, loving husband, who always supported Arlene and their son Mark in every way possible.
Christy is remembered for his keen sense of humor, generosity and his dedication to his family and friends. He was an extremely hard worker who enjoyed maintaining his beautiful property and spending time with his family and pets.
The Skarani family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of the Harrington and Brigham and Women's Hospital staff, in addition to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern CT, who provided Chris with such excellent care.
His funeral service was held on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, followed by a gathering at the Publick House in Sturbridge, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Nickolas Albanian Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 650, Southbridge, MA 01550.

To Arlene and Mark. Our greastest sympathy on the passing of Christy. He was a wonderful man and loved you both so very much. It was unfortunate the way we all had to meet but, it was our fortune to be able to say he touched our lives even if it was for a short time. God Bless.
