Firmin Sillo Obituary
Rutland - Firmin Z. Sillo, 54, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital, Lowell. He was born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa, the son of Hubert Sery and Rachel Kre. Firmin was a former resident of Cambridge who had lived in Rutland for the past 15 years.
Firmin received his degree in electrical engineering from Yamoussoukro in West Africa. He then graduated from UMass Lowell getting a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Chemical Engineering. He enjoyed his career as a plastics engineer with Cequr in Marlborough. Firmin was part of a small grassroots business called Amerivoire Investors, which is a small investment club for the economic and social development for Côte d'Ivoire. He was an active member of the Ivorian Community. Firmin played adult league soccer and coached soccer for the Rutland Youth Soccer League. He also enjoyed golfing and tennis.
Firmin leaves his wife, Deborah Proia; his daughter, Isabelle Sillo of Rutland; two brothers, Joel and Lenoir; five sisters, Patricia, Yolande, Olive, Shantal, Viviane; a large extended family and many friends
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury Street, Holden to be followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. We are very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing, Isabelle. Very sorry to know of this sadness touching your family, Mrs. Silla.
When I met Firmin, he impressed me as quietly certain, curious and open, and solid in his footing inside of the life and love he'd built with the both of you.
We talked of many things, and while I now realize he must have had much on his mind, he took the time to learn of my daughter's new friendship with Izzy, and to extend his wishes for my own family's ease as we transitioned into this community.
I wish you both peace.

Dear Deborah and Isabel,
We are so sorry for your loss. I have been sharing our wonderful memories with Al, particularly the sleepovers with all of us and our dogs. I will always treasure the late night conversations and laughter we shared. I remember you asking me what I wanted for my wedding. I responded that I just wanted you to be there on time to see me walk down the aisle. You credited Firmin with making sure you got there on time. You were such a great team in so many ways. Saddened by this news. I only knew Firmin briefly, as an indoor soccer teammate, but I will always remember him as a super nice guy and a great sportsman. My condolences to his family, friends and other teammates.
