John Grossi Obituary

John R. Grossi

LEOMINSTER - John R. Grossi of Leominster, died Friday, April 28, 2017 in his home after an illness, two days short of his 91st birthday. He is survived by his sons David P. Grossi and his wife Jo-Ellen of Boylston and Richard T. Grossi and his wife Linda of Leominster, 4 grandchildren Stephen Grossi, Sarah Grossi, Christopher Grossi (and his wife Alicia), and Kathryn Grossi (and her fiancé Stephen Oldfield), and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Nancy L. (Wright) Grossi in 2003 and his sister Marjorie Proietti in 2015.

John was born in 1926 in Leominster, son of John F. and Clara (Joseph) Grossi and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1943 and Norwich University in 1948. John served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II and earned several medals. He was a member of St. Anna Parish in Leominster.

John had a successful career as a business executive. He served as vice president of manufacturing at Doehla's Greeting Card Company in Nashua, NH and then at Johnson Creative Art and JCA, Inc., both in Townsend before retiring. He was respected by all for his leadership, work ethic, quick wit and critical decision-making ability.

John was a longtime golfer who enjoyed the camaraderie and the outdoor experience of the game, particularly in his retirement. John also enjoyed maintaining his vegetable gardens and delighted in sharing his crop with family and friends. He played football and baseball at Leominster High and remained an avid sports fan. He was a staunch supporter of Leominster High sports and continued to be a regular at Friday night football games, and never missed a Thanksgiving game throughout his life.

John was happiest when with his family, whether it was the weekly Sunday night suppers at Aunt Marge's or hosting Christmas Eve for a group that had grown to four generations. Most of all, John cherished his time with his lovely wife Nancy, his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 60+ years of what was truly a marriage made in heaven.

Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Leominster Blue Devils Football Club, P.O. Box 345, Leominster, MA 01453. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral home, 106 West Street, Leominster is assisting the family with arrangements. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net

Tim, Candie and family

My family and I were very sorry to hear of John's passing. John was a very kind and thoughtful man. He was always checking in to see how our kids were doing and very supportive of them. As we grew to know John over the years, we very much considered him a part of our family. We will all miss John, but have great memories of the times we spent with him.

A true Gentleman. I will miss the Florida trips, the golf and the cribbage games, but most of all I will just miss Johns company.
Rest in Peace, John.
