John Trainor Obituary

John F. Trainor, 58

Worcester - John Francis Trainor, 58, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born in Worcester, son of Francis J. and Mary Jane (Grady) Trainor and graduated from St. Peter-Marian CCHS. He then graduated from New England School of Accounting and Worcester State College. John worked for the City of Worcester for many years, most recently in the Worcester Public School system as a facilitator. He had a strong Catholic faith and was a longtime member at St. John's Church. John was very proud of his Irish heritage and created many wonderful memories on his trips to Ireland with his family. He was known as a "people person", always there to advocate or support the less fortunate and socially challenged; a quality found not only in his professional life but also his personal life.

John enjoyed traveling, especially trips to warmer climates with Alicia, spending time at the house on the Cape, and he cherished spending time with his family at gatherings, holidays or simply watching the Patriots games. Six months ago, John became a grandfather to Owen Patrick, a role that brought many hours of laughter, smiles and great joy to him.

John will be dearly missed by his best friend and wife of 35 years, Alicia M. (Makowiecki) Trainor, two children, Eric J. Trainor and his wife Ashley of Worcester and Laura Jayne Trainor of Bennington, VT and his beautiful grandson, Owen Patrick Trainor. John also leaves his father, Francis J. Trainor, two brothers, James M. Trainor and his wife Pamela and Brian J. Trainor and Lisa and a sister, Sharon A. Zenevitch and her husband Mark, all of Worcester, several nephews and nieces and his two trusted yellow lab companions, Indy and Edward.

Visiting hours to celebrate John's life are Friday, December 13th from 4 until 8 pm at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 14th at St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the Pan Mass Challenge, 77 4th Avenue, Needham, MA 02494 or by visiting donate.pmc.org

My thoughts and prayers are with John's family during this very sad time. I worked with John at the Worcester Adult Learning Center for many years. Anytime I would stop by his office he would stop work and would genuinely ask about my family and me.Our visits were short, work to be done, but leaving his office I always felt genuinely cared about. I know your memories of John will help with this loss. You are in my prayers.
Sincerely, Kathy McKee

Please accept my deepest sympathy and prayers on the loss of John. John Trainor was a Gentleman In so many ways. He possessed a kind and caring soul that epitomized the faith he was raised in. John was an observer and participant in politics, and if he was your friend, he was most loyal. The world has lost a great human being and we are all poorer for it.

Dearest Alicia and Family,
I am deeply saddened to learn of John's illness and untimely passing. A flood of wonderful memories from high school days shared at St. Peter - Marian came flooding back. John was always such a joy to be around and I was blessed with his kindness and friendship. All of you remain close in thought, heart, and prayer during this time of unspeakable grief. I wish you strength, comfort, and resolve. He is at peace now and so you must be. Rest assured he took your love with him and when he arrived to our Heavenly Father, your faces were imprinted on his joy filled soul. Always remember, love is eternal and families are forever. Until you meet again, may God's grace and blessings rest upon you always. I cannot be present at the services, but I will honor his memory nonetheless. With sympathy and in remembrance....

So sad to hear of John's passing. My condolences to everyone in the Trainor clan. I used to look forward to seeing John at DAB when he worked for the Worcester Public Schools Federal programs. He certainly had the best stories! John always went above and beyond to get the job done. He was a true advocate for every single student in the Adult Education program. Rest in peace, John. You truly made a positive difference to the lives of many. Thank you for being such a wonderful person.
