John White Obituary

John S. White, 68

Boylston - John Stanley White, 68, of Boylston died on Sunday February 8, 2016 after a brief, but valiant, battle with cancer. He transitioned from this world to the next at his home with his beloved wife, Judith, and their three dogs at his side.

John was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts on September 18, 1947 to James H. and Phillis Burke White. He attended Marlborough schools, graduated from Marlborough High School class of 1965 and received a bachelors degree in business from Merrimack College in 1969. He married the love of his life, Judith Farmer, in September of 1986 and together they embarked on the journey of life with gusto and excitement. They traveled extensively through this country and Europe, enjoyed time at their second homes in Maine and Bonaire, and had wonderful adventures cruising the eastern seaboard on the Fair Winds. They shared a love of the outdoors and all it offered, and especially cherished their many Golden Retrievers.

John put his business education to good use as he founded the All-Kinds Fence Company in Clinton, Blue Water Enterprise in Bonaire, N.A., East Woods Realty in Boylston and most recently was employed by Coldwell Banker. In all these endeavors, as in life, his wife Judith was his partner.

Both Judith and John were board members of the Wachusett Chamber of Commerce. They both were also active board members in The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, an organization that among other activities provides life support to people with intellectual disabilities. John believed strongly in the concept of community and freely gave of himself. He was a member of the Boylston Congregational Church. For 35 years John was a loyal friend of Bill W. and he helped countless people learn to break free from the bonds of addiction.

John is survived by his wife Judith of Boylston, his daughter Snowe Theissing of Seattle, Washington, and three brothers: Burke P. and his wife Jean of Athol, David J. and his wife Eleanor of Beaver Creak, OH, and Neal T. of Westborough. He is also survived by his aunt, Nancy Burke Hanslip of Hudson and his brother-in-law Earl Farmer and his wife Linda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

A celebration of John's life will be held at the Boylston Congregational Church, 10 Church Street in Boylston, on Saturday February 13 at 1 pm. There will be refreshments and fellowship in the church hall after the service. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in John's name to The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, 4 Mann Street, Worcester, MA 01602.

I knew John from attending church at Boylston Congregational in the 80's and 90's. He was a great guy and had lived in Marlboro and was a year behind me in high school. I wish I could have attended the service on Saturday.
