Lawrence Potter Obituary

Lawrence E. Potter, 75, of Prospect St., died Monday, September 27, 2010 in Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara J. (Floury) Potter; four children, James Potter and his wife Karen, Lawrence E. Potter, Jr. and Thomas Potter and his wife Kelly all of Warren and Jennifer Scampini and her husband Joseph of Auburn; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Kaila, Tylor, Rebecca, Gabrielle, Nathan, Elizabeth and Madison and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Beverly Hevy died in 2007.

He was born in Lake Worth, FL son of the late Lawrence I. and Miriam M. (Hughes) Potter and grew up in West Brookfield and has lived in Warren for 54 years. He graduated from W.P.I. School of Industrial Management.

Mr. Potter worked as a Production Manager for Warren Pumps for 40 years before retiring in 2000. He was a United States Army Veteran and an avid golfer and member of the Scottish Meadow Golf Club in Warren. He loved to go camping and liked to whittle. He was a former member of the Warren Fire Department and was involved with the Boy Scouts. His pride and joy however was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A Funeral Service for Lawrence will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Quaboag Regional School District, Potter Scholarship, 284 Old West Brookfield Rd., Warren, MA 01083-1538 or to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
