Leo R. Brunette, 85

OXFORD - Leo R. Brunette, 85, of Sunset Avenue, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Pauline E. (St. Laurent) Brunette of Oxford. He is survived by four children, Debra A. Seder and her husband David of Dudley, Carol J. Brunette and her life partner James McCue of Michigan, Lisa M. Prouty and her husband Edmund of Auburn, and Joseph L. Brunette and his wife Sandra of Spencer; two sisters, Jean Hanam and Doris Brunette, both of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren, Adam Brunette and his wife Jessica, Paul Brunette, Julie Brunette, Samantha Prouty, Eric Prouty, and Jessica Seder; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four sisters, Irene Cure, Lorraine Letourneau, Norma Boulay, and Blanche Vania; and a brother, Paul Brunette. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Joseph N. and Delia M. (Malboeuf) Brunette, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford 52 years ago.

Mr. Brunette was a machinist at George Meyer Manufacturing in West Boylston for 35 years. Later, he worked in the maintenance department at Oxford High School for several years before retiring 20 year ago. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. He enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and Foxwoods with his wife, and was a lifelong Red Sox and Patriots fan.

His life centered around his family and extended family. He loved nothing more than having everyone together in his home. He took great care of his children and stayed involved in their lives. He loved children and babies, and doted on his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a wonderful family man.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or to Partners in Charity, c/o Diocese of Worcester, 49 Elm St., Worcester, MA 01609.

An AMAZING man and neighbor. We lived next door for about 5 years and he was the sweetest neighbor. Always great with the kids in the neighborhood. You will truly be missed Leo.

Leo was an amazing man! He was like a grandfather to my children who have known him all of their lives. He was a part of our family celebrating birthdays with us and special occasions. Leo our lives are better for having you and Pauline in them. You will always be in our thoughts and the kids and I will forever love and miss you! Errick promises to have some birthday cake for you every year since you shared the same birthday! Rest in Peace xoxoxox
