Patrick Reddy Obituary

Patrick J. Reddy, 62, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with his devoted family at his side after a valiant battle with brain cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Lynn (Mead) Reddy. A devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his wife Lynn; his children, Michael Reddy and his partner, Donna Lowry, of Groton, CT, Brian Reddy of West Hartford, CT, Caitlin Joy Collins and her husband, James, of Woodstock, CT, Shevaun Jillian Reddy and her partner, Adam Lamontagne, of Woodstock, CT; his treasured grandchildren, Adam Silverstein, Connor Reddy, Madison Reddy, Sean Daniel Reddy, and Jack Patrick Reddy; his parents, Robert and Theresa Reddy of Putnam, CT; his sisters, Roberta Reddy of Brooklyn, CT, Maureen Landry and her husband, David, of Putnam, CT, Teresa Reddy of Webster and a brother, Shawn Reddy, of Brooklyn, CT. He was predeceased by a brother, Kevin Reddy. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reddy was born September 5, 1947 in New York City. At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the military and served in Vietnam as a Navy Corpsman with the First Battalion Fifth Marines. While saving a fellow Marine, he was wounded and lost both of his legs, and was later diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer attributed to Agent Orange exposure, also from Vietnam.

Upon his return home, he pursued his love of education and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Eastern Connecticut State University.

Mr. Reddy was an accomplished and talented artist, an avid reader, and a great lover of nature. He treasured time spent with his family, and what brought him the greatest joy was spending time with his little buddy Jack Patrick.

Caitlyn, Shevaun, Jim and family, Bob and I have been saddened to hear of the loss of your father. Bob thought a lot of the Reddy family having driven school bus for Caitlyn and Shevaun for years. You have been blessed with the love of a father and that love will live on in your hearts and in your memories. You will meet again but until then cling to the wonderful memories that you have. God Bless, Lynn and Bob Frink
