Philip Anas Obituary

Philip R. Anas Jr., 36

Worcester - Philip R. Anas Jr., 36, died peacefully with his family by his side in his home on Sunday, January 31, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Philip graduated from Burncoat High School in 2003 and continued his education at Westfield State College where he earned a bachelor's degree majoring in business. While he was at Burncoat High School, Phil was a standout athlete in both soccer and track, being recognized as a Telegram & Gazette All-Star in both sports. He continued to play soccer for many years, including at Westfield State College where he helped his team win the MASCAC Championship during his senior year. After college he continued to play soccer in various recreational leagues throughout the Worcester area.

Phil was honored by the New England Revolution as their "Hero of the Match" during the 2018 season. He had a love for sports and especially enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. Phil was close to so many of his lifelong friends and his two dogs, Tucker and Maisie. His personality was contagious and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Philip was born in Worcester and is survived by his loving parents, Philip R. Anas Sr. and Elaine (Doherty) Anas; a brother, Thoma Anas of Worcester and a sister, Lizzie McGee and her husband, Thomas of Somerville, MA and his large, close extended family including aunts, uncles, & cousins.

He worked for many years at his family business as the assistant manager of Commercial Fruit and also was the assistant coach for the boys' varsity Soccer team at Bancroft School. He was a member of the Brown Square Civic Club in Worcester and he gave the following advice and lived by the following "Always work hard because it's never over until you give up".

Funeral services are being held privately and a Celebration of Phil's Life will be held later, when all of his family and friends can gather and remember him. Memorial contributions in memory of Phil may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to support cancer research and patient care, www.DanaFarber.org/gift
