Phyllis Conroy Obituary

Phyllis A. Conroy, 91

Auburn - Phyllis A. (Albrecht) Conroy, 91, passed peacefully at home on Monday, February 5, 2018, with her loving family by her bedside. Phyllis was born and raised in Auburn, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Hazel T. (McCullough) Albrecht. She has called Auburn home her entire life.

Phyllis graduated from Auburn High School and then began working for the former New England Telephone and Telegraph. She soon met the love of her life, Frederick Conroy and the two were soon married in 1947. Their marriage ended tragically in 1956 with Fred's unexpected death, leaving Phyllis to raise her four young children. Phyllis enjoyed her employment at the former Tie Corner in the Auburn Mall, and later hers was the smiling face to greet you with your morning coffee and newspaper at Holly Farms in Webster.

She will be forever lovingly missed by her five children, Linda Pratt, Jerry, Sheila and Gary Conroy and Jaye Coderre; her eight grandchildren, Lisa Carpenter, Jill and Erin Pratt, Holly Poirier, Elizabeth (Conroy) Narciso, Whitney Conroy, Kimberly Conroy and Felecia (Conroy) Waggoner; her ten great grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexa Fernandez, Owen Law, Ava, John and Olivia Narciso, Jacob and Evelyn Waggoner and Brian and Erin Carpenter; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Fred Phyllis was predeceased by her two sisters, Barbara Albrecht and Alleyne Foley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, February 9, at 11 am in Hope Cemetery, (Section104), Hope Avenue, Worcester. A reception and time of Life Celebration will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017. Arrangements are in the care of the Lindquist-Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St., Worcester. To share a memory or leave an online condolence, please visit

Gram was not like most Grandmothers. She stood out in so many ways, whether it be because she drove around in a convertible with the heat blasting in the middle of summer, or that on birthdays and holidays her piece of cake was noticeably bigger than everyone else in the room. Her love for life was undeniable, she was the kindest, most caring, person, and that is how I will always remember her.

Auntie Phyllis was the kindest person ever.
May Linda, Jerry, Gary, and Sheila and their families know how much we appreciated her company, always. What fun we had in those bygone days when she, Charlie, and all of you got together with our clan for barbeques.
We will miss her, but never forget her.
