Rose Van Vleck/Long Obituary

Rose O. Van Vleck/Long, 79, of 4 Kitchener Rd. and Clementsvale, Nova Scotia, was called home to her Lord on August 9, 2007 after a long illness. Rose was born on August 2, 1928 to the late Elisha and Olive (Vale) Wiles, formerly of Bear River East, N.S.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 9 years, Gerald Long of Clementsvale, N.S., as well as Gerald's grown daughters and their families, a sister, Muriel Beirhorst (Fred) residing in Bear River East , N.S. and many nephews, nieces, friends and dear family there.

Left to carry on here are Rose's twin sons, Laurence Van Vleck (Corinne) of Westminster, Gerald Van Vleck of Lunenburg, and a daughter, Sharon DeVillers (Curt) of Sterling. A huge void will be left in the lives of her grandchildren Eric, Keith, Shannon, Kelly, Olivia, Shaye, and Ethan.

Former husband Richard Van Vleck of Sterling predeceased her in 1981, as well as her brother Stuart Wiles (Thelma) of Granby Conn. who was laid to rest in 1997.

Rose's devotion to family, friends, and church enriched her, careers in early life of hairdressing, and later of a member of the Clinton Hospital staff sustained her.

Rose's funeral was held on August 13 in Nova Scotia. Services were provided by Kaulbach Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.
