Walter Donat Obituary

Walter Donat, 95, of Worcester, died peacefully Monday, March 9, 2009 surrounded by his family in the Notre Dame Extended Care Center. Walter is survived by his wife, Marie E. (Roberto) Donat; a son, Dr. Walter Edward Donat and his wife Susan of Cranston RI; and a daughter, Karen Olivier and her husband William of Shrewsbury; a sister, Olga Czelder of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.

Walter was born in New York, son of the late Edward and Caroline (Sturm) Donat and came to the Worcester area many years ago. Walter worked as an engraver and also as a salesman for a local food company. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre.

Walter's funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the Chapel Of Notre Dame Du Lac Assisted Living Center, 559 Plantation St. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in the National Veteran's Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM.
