Walter Rohr Obituary

Walter Rohr, 86, of 18 Bruce Lane, died Feb. 29, at St. Vincent Hospital, in Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Rena (Brothers) Rohr; two daughters: Susan wife of Rocky Darling of Dudley and Amy wife of Bob Mallette of Warren; one brother, Kenneth Rohr of McKinney, TX; three grandsons, Wayne Darling and his wife Tammie of Dudley, Michael Darling and his wife Kristyne of Shrewsbury and Tom Mallette of Warren; three great grandchildren, Kayla, Adam and Peyton Darling; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 4 brothers, Harold, Charles, Paul and Gerald and a sister, Norma Collins. He was born in "JERICO" the capital Dudley, the son of the late Walter and Hermance (Millette) Rohr. He graduated from Bartlett high school class of 1940, he played basketball for Bartlett and Nichols College. He served in the Army during WWII. After his service to his country, he finished his studies and graduated from Nichols College and also was agent for his class. He lived the past 33 years in Southbridge and was a member of Notre Dame Parish. Mr. Rohr was a retired Vice President of Bank of New England and Guaranty Bank in Webster. Walter was past president and served on the board of directors of Webster-Dudley Boys Club. He was instrumental in starting the Webster-Dudley Exchange Club and was treasurer of Tri Community Exchange Club. Member of the Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 184, V.F.W., Dudley Veterans and a fan of the Boston Red Sox and Celtics.

Mr. Rohrs' funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 5 from Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St., Southbridge. After cremation, burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery Webster. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tues., March 4 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
