William J. "Mr. Bill" Heinz, 53
DOUGLAS - William J. "Mr. Bill" Heinz, 53, of Bowen Ct. died Sun. Aug. 26 at home after an illness.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years Debra A. (Dal Col) Heinz; a daughter Jenna Leigh Heinz of Massapequa NY; 4 brothers Richard Heinz, Gregory Heinz, Gerard Heinz, and James "Jimmy" Heinz all of New York; 3 sisters Dianne Erb of NY, Theresa Heinz-Thompson of FL, and Mary Chapleski of TX. He was stepbrother to Donna Chellis-Garvey, Gary Chellis, Robert Chellis and Raymond Chellis; and brother-in-law to Richard and his wife Kathy Dal Col as well as William Dal Col. He was a loving uncle to many nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces. Born in Bethpage, NY on Oct. 3, 1958 he was son of the late Richard J. and Geraldine (Chell) Heinz and lived in Douglas the past 5 years, previously living in Lindenhurst NY.
Bill worked as a welder and mechanic for LILCO (National Grid) for 17 years, retiring due to illness. He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist High School in W. Islip NY, Class of 1977. A member of the Douglas Historical Society, he also served on their Board of Directors.
Mr. Bill genuinely loved life. He enjoyed his wife's cooking and his vegetable garden. He loved camping on Lake Manchaug which eventually brought him to Douglas. Bill also loved and will be missed by his little buddy "Ramsey".
His funeral will be held Fri. Aug 31 at 10 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St. Burial will follow in Douglas Center Cemetery. Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. are Wed. Aug. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thurs. Aug. 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Douglas Firefighters Assn., Box 222 Douglas, MA 01516 and/or Dana Farber Research, Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
