Edward John Knish, Sr.

Brentwood, TN

Edward John Knish Sr., age 96 of Brentwood, Tennessee, died peacefully at Alive Hospice on July 24, 2017. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served honorably as a Master Sergeant in the Army air corps during World War II. After returning from the war, he founded Southern Insurance Managers, which he owned and managed for 43 years in Nashville. He attained a lifetime CPCU certification and was beloved by his employees, who honored him upon his retirement with a plaque entitled "The Most Wonderful Boss." He was a devoted member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, an avid golfer and card player at Hillwood Country Club, and a world traveler. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and was known for his generosity and good humor.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Knish and Mary Vanek, his sister Helen Tousignant, and his wife of almost 60 years, Rosemary Delisi Knish. He is survived by his children Ed Jr. (Paula) Knish of Charlotte, NC, Michael Knish of Studio City, CA, and Mary Liz (Martin) Burns of Washington DC., and his grandchildren Sarah Knish Hall, Katie Knish, Edward Knish III, Mary DeLuca, Joseph Knish, Andrew Knish and Jessica Knish.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brentwood. A private burial service will then be held for the immediate family.

I never met Mr. Knish. I know his daughter, Mary Liz Burns. I'm more than certain the he was a kind and loving soul just like his daughter. My condolences go out to the family. Rest in peace Mr. Knish.
