Jesse Wilton ROBERTS

ROBERTS, Jesse Wilton Age 84 (Major, retired) of Dickson, TN, died on Monday, August 19, 2013. He was born in Smith County, Tennessee to Charlie Roberts and Maggie Bush Roberts. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with the 793 Division of the Military Police Officers stationed in Nuerenbrug, Germany. Upon his return to Tennessee, he was commissioned as a Tennessee State Trooper in 1953. He served the State of Tennessee for 31 years, and retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol at the rank of Major on June 1, 1984. After retirement, he accepted the position of Transportation Director for the Dickson County School System, and served in that capacity for 24 years, retiring on June 1, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ella B. White. He is survived by his wife, Pat England Roberts; son, Jonothan Keith Roberts; daughters, Jessica Roberts Gray, Jennifer Davis Roberts and Jacquelin (J.J.) Roberts Johnson. His grandchildren are Heather Gray, Lauren Gray, Meredith Johnson, Anna Johnson, Emma Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Davis Roberts Hare and great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Burney. Also survived by his sister, Louise Overstreet, as well as nieces and nephews. Major Roberts was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Pioneer Bible Class. Visitaton for Major Roberts will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home, with Bro.
