Today I learned of John's passing and I am overwhelmed by the sadness I feel for his wife, children, siblings and parents. John and I grew up together and were classmates and friends from grammar through high school, sharing a ragtag carpool for 4 years before life, circumstance and geography facilitated a drift.
While many saw John as a quiet, quirky kid with not alot to say, I was lucky enough to KNOW him as the the brilliant, kind kid with a TON TO SAY that he thankfully shared with me through his AMAZING sense of humor and biting sarcasm. I was one of the lucky ones, truly lucky ones for having been let in. I will never forget the mornings with John and his dad, debating the value of what we had to do with our day versus what big John did with his- 25 minutes of irreverent often hillarious banter that made that dreadful delivery to Shrewsbury not only bearable but borderline enjoyable.
John was an unassuming, brilliant force who will live on in the minds and hearts of those he has tragically left behind. I am so sorry I didn't get the chance to offer a more fitting and deserving farewell to someone who was ALWAYS good, kind, decent and truly made me laugh-even when I may have not always offered him the same in return.

John Cahill I will miss you.
