Anthony Ruocco Obituary

Anthony Salvatore Ruocco
Corning - Anthony Salvatore Ruocco, age 95, died peacefully in his sleep at home on August 4th, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 21, 1925 in Corning, NY, the son of Joseph and Rosina (Tombasco) Ruocco.
To most who knew him he was "Tony" and his childhood friends called him "Buffalo". Anthony was a CFA graduate and a member of All Saints Parish. In his younger years, he enjoyed piloting and continued to share these fond memories with his family and friends. He met the love of his life at 24 years old, Teresa I. Michael and was married on April 15th 1950. Together they shared over 70 wonderful joy-filled years and had 6 beautiful children.
Summers were spent together as a family on Keuka Lake in a cottage he built with many hands in 1945, later called "Paradisio Della Famiglia." He passed the importance of his love of family to his children which was a dominant force in his life. After his retirement from Corning Incorporated, in an effort to give back to his community, Anthony spearheaded Golf for Cancer at Indian Hills Golf Course in Painted Post NY, where he raised $240,000 for the American Cancer Society over 14 years. He loved gardening, woodworking and swimming. He was an avid card player with his VFW friends and family and had an insatiable appetite for puzzles. Anthony was one of the most positive, resilient and strong people you could ever meet. When asked how he's doing his favorite response was always, "I'm fantastic, never felt better in my life. "
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Teresa I Ruocco, eldest daughter, Charlotte Ann Ruocco, niece Krista Michelle Micheli, and sister Sr Gloria Grace Ruocco RSM. He is survived by his children Dr. Martin J. Ruocco, Terese Ann (John) Conklin, Mary Livian (James) Mayle, Joseph Patrick (Mary Catherine) Ruocco, and Toni Marie Ruocco; siblings Sr Livia Ann Ruocco RSM, and Joanne (Thomas) Micheli; grandchildren Heather Rachel (Christopher) Cosgrove, Allysa Rose (Jordan) Magee, Patrick John Conklin, Anthony Joseph Ruocco Flores, LT USN Maria Terese Ruocco Flores, Makenzie Terese Conklin, Dylan Jude Anthony Brewster, Martin G. Ruocco, Justin Ruocco, Maxwell Ruocco, Zachery Ruocco, Carolyn (Charlie) Ruocco; great grandchildren Elise Ruth Cosgrove, Logan Rose Magee, Ada Grace Cosgrove, Emerson Jennie Magee, Sophia Ruocco and Simon Vincent Cox; many loving in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on September 24th at 2 pm at St. Mary's Church. Memorial donations in Anthony's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Acly-Stover Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

My family. Love you all dearly. I remember 48years ago when and other family members made chicken for my wedding. The memories of my mother and Tresea making cookies, coming hone from school and you both at our house for dinner and ours to yours. Too many memories today. You will always be in prayers as will your children. You did a good job. Time to rest.

To my cousins, my heart hurts for you, losing Teresa and Tony so close together. But there are so many memories that we have of him.. My dad( Bosco) loved him as a brother, and would call out "eh Buffalo" when they played cards at the Marconi Lodge. They would play a card game called "Boss" . And the loser would have to drink shots..as many as the "Boss" said...Tony was " Boss " one night and got my father so blitzed, he and my Uncle Louie had to carry him home. They were young once too, you know....He helped my dad build an addition to our house and I can remember him on top of the struts of the new roof. I remember thinking how brave he was. Both Tony and Teresa were a huge part of our growing up years and those memories you don´t forget. I will never forget how they supported Mom and Dad when Ralphy passed. Your dad was a good, good man and a kind one, too. I know how proud he was of you all... He was not alone because I imagine the whole family was at Heaven´s Gate welcoming him home.
Love you all
Maryann

Tony Ruocco was my Godfather. From my earliest memories I remember him as "Big" Tony. I remember him working at the cottage (Milrock) at Keuka Lake. I remember whenever anyone in the family needed help he and Theresa were there. I remember when my brother passed, he and Theresa were the first to be there and offer condolences and help. I could go on but it would all be the same, they were a great couple and I will miss them. I am honored to be his Godson and will cherish his memory. God Bless you Gumba and know you are loved and will be missed. Rest In Peace. Your godson, Art Tombasco
