YOUNGSVILLE - Funeral services for Wilkie Swarthout will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Youngsville with the Bro. L.C. Lord officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Swarthout, age 72 of Broussard, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at his residence. Wilkie was born on January 30, 1941 in Lafayette Parish and was a lifetime resident of Acadiana. He worked for Frank's Casing Crew for over 40 years and owned his own oilfield service company from 1975-1983. He retired from Frank's in December 2012. Wilkie loved his dogs "Sugar" and "Honey" and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Swarthout is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Beulah Rose Grayson of Big Cane, LA; two daughters, Carleen Naumann (Wayne Landry) of Katy, TX and Clarice Daigle (Rowdy) of Ashburn, VA; two grandchildren, Shay Ducharme (Tarra) of New Iberia, LA and Jamie Ducharme of Ashburn, VA; three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Bea Swarthout and sister Dorothy Arceneaux.
The family wishes to thank Paramont Hospice Acadiana nurse Mary Couvillion, for the compassionate care given to Wilkie and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wilkie's memory to Paramont Hospice Acadiana, 101 LaRue France, Suite 301, Lafayette, LA 70508.
Visitation will be observed at First Baptist Church in Youngsville, LA on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
