Albert Ernest Cal Sr.

1956 - 2020

Albert Ernest Cal, Sr. ("Al" or "The Captain" as he was affectionately known to family, friends, and coworkers), age 64, passed away on December 23, 2020. He was raised between Kentwood and Baton Rouge by his grandparents, John D. and Mary Brumfield. He was a graduate of Glen Oaks High School class of 1974. He attended Southern University before his employment with Exxon Mobil. He retired in 2018. Al loved family, football, cars, cooking, bowling. A man of faith, Al was a living example of hard work, wisdom, honor, and respect. Al leaves to cherish his memory his childhood sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Regina Stewart Cal; three children, Albert Cal Jr., Juarod Cal (Kedra), and Rasheedah Cal Carter (Michael); two grandchildren, Kennedi and Ethan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that loved him dearly. Preceded in death by his mother Johnnie Brumfield Bell; his brother Michael Bell; and his grandparents, John D. and Mary Brumfield. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Cal family to the staff at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and Promise Rehabilitation Hospital for the care they provided in his time of need. Funeral services will be limited to family and friends and will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Greater Beach Grove Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. The family requests that visitation be observed at Greater Beach Grove Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. until time of services. Reverend Keno Spurlock, Pastor of Greater Beach Grove Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services.
