Charlie "Fence Man" Drake Jr.

Charlie Drake Obituary

A retired fence installer and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at his home. Visiting at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 3765 N. Acadian Thruway, on Friday, March 13, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. C. Obear, pastor. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Betty Wells-Drake; two daughters, Charlotte Poole and Valda Shelmire; three sons, Melvin Keith, Shawn and Brian Drake; and two sisters, Bertha Drake and Mary Donaldson, all of Baton Rouge. Also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and brother. Arrangements by Carney-Mackey Funeral Home.
