Myrtle Couvillion Obituary

Myrtle Anne Couvillion passed away on April 16, 2021 at the age of 82. The following words were her own and left to her loving family and friends. I heard my Lord call my name and answered "here I am Lord" and he took my hand. God has blessed me so abundantly. I have lived a very good and fruitful life, and thank him for all he has given to me and my family, and I live on in my six children. Dennis Paul, Gary Michael, Keith Anthony and Tami Ann who are deceased, Mitzi Jean and Jerrod Vincent Couvillion. My dearest husband Mike preceded me, and I am so anxious to see him Tami and Keith again! I leave my daughters-in-law Sheila Reynoud Couvillion and Annette Keller Couvillion, son-in-law Jude Hibbs, Grandchildren Brett, Morgan, Courtney, Ireland and Savannah Couvillion, Casey M. Couvillion, Ava Grace Hibbs, and three great-grandchildren Sadie and Libby Simpson and Dylan James Couvillion. Nothing I've done in my time here on Earth can compare to my accomplishments as a mother. I leave my two sisters Lena Dedon and Nancy Bailey and will miss you so much. Now I join my parents Vallie and Vivian lemoine who have gone before me. I live on in a good thunderstorm, a soft breeze, flowers, the belly laugh of a baby, and the birds in my yard, and the love of my children and family. So do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. -Mama. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. My favorite m
memories of Myrtle are through her loving children. I was fortunate enough to know her through them, especially through Mitzi and Jerrod , as a teacher at Mercy. I especially enjoyed teaching Jerrod twice, once in 1st grade and again in 4th grade, and Mitzi became a good friend to my daughter, Shelley, spending many sleepovers with her at our home. Myrtle became a good friend to me, could always be counted on if you needed anything, and was a Godly woman-role model to her family. It is with deep sorrow that I say goodbye to one of Mercy's jewels---Myrtle. You really made an impression in my life as well as my family's! Fly high to Mike, Keith, and Tami!

Myrtle, I feel like our friendship was a gift from God. He brought you into my life when I needed a friend, and I found that in you. I have learned from your goodness, your love, your faith. I want you to know I will miss you so much. I know you will have a party with Mike, Tammy mad Keith as well as your mom and dad. Fly high sweet Myrtle,I love you so much.

The family is in my prayers. Mrs. Myrtle was one of the kindest and sweetest ladies I have come across. I will miss seeing her come in to my job, hugging me and giving me a kiss on the cheek like I was her own family. She will be greatly missed.

Gary, Mitzi, Jerrod & Dennis,
So sad to hear about your mom. Take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with your Dad and siblings. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear about Myrtle’s passing. Our selfishness makes us wish for her to continue to be with us yet, as she said, her trust in the Lord filled her with excitement to see Mike, Tammi and Keith again.
To the rest of the family and the innumerable friends that were touched by this angel, may God give you all peace, strength and consolation in these difficult times.
