Aubrey Roane Walker, Jr of Mitchellville, Maryland passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. Aubrey is survived by his parents Aubrey (Doc) Walker and Mina S. Walker of Mitchellville, Maryland, his wife of 33 years Jill Richardson Walker, his two sons Houston Colt Walker and Remington Colby Walker, his sisters Robin Walker and Kathy Walker Merrill (Keith).
He was a lifelong resident of the Bowie area, attending Bowie High School, Class of ‘83. He furthered his education at the University of Maryland, University College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Following college, Aubrey went to work for Citizens Bank of Maryland where he worked as a branch manager. Aubrey transitioned careers in 1991 to become an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance. Aubrey partnered with his dad working closely together at their agency located in Pointer Ridge until his father retired in 2018 and until Aubrey’s passing.
Aubrey was a member of the Upper Marlboro Lions Club and the Southern Maryland Society. His love of working on his family’s farm led he and his wife Jill to purchase the small farm adjoining his homeplace. Together they have raised their family as well as angus and charolais cattle and hay. Aubrey enjoyed golfing and played on a Wednesday night golf league in Bowie with his partner and brother in law Don Havard.
Aubrey was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He will never be forgotten as his spirit will live with us forever.
Viewing for Aubrey will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Beall Funeral Home 6512 NW Crain HWY, (Rte 3 South) Bowie, Maryland. His funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mt. Oak Church 14110 Mt. Oak Rd, Bowie, Maryland 20721 with burial to follow at the Mt. Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aubrey R. Walker, Jr may be made to Mt. Oak Cemetery in care of Aubrey R. Walker, 13211 Woodmore Road, Mitchellville, Maryland 20721. Donations may also be made to the Hospice of Chesapeake, Rebecca Fortney Impatient Care Center, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
