It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Allen Cary Sr., who departed this life on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family after a long 16 month battle with Cancer. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 6th, 1961, John lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family, friends, community and workplace.
John spent 45 years as a cherished resident of Pasadena, Maryland, making lasting memories and forging lifelong friendships. A devoted husband, father, foster parent, brother, and son, John is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Julie M. Gable-Cary, his mother, Edna M. Lawrence, and his children: John Cary, Jenna Arthur and her husband Robert Arthur, Jr., Christopher Cary; adopted children, Curtis Sachs, Samantha Stokes, and Jasmine Clark, along with numerous other foster children whom he held close to his heart.
A proud grandfather, John leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Jacob Cary, Mackenna Cary, Everly Arthur, and Atlas Cary, all of whom brought immense joy and happiness to his life. John is also survived by his sister, Sharon Stewart, and his brothers, Michael Cary and Patrick Cary, 5 brother-in-laws, 1 sister-in-law, and many loved nieces and nephews. His loyal dog, Zoey, also remains a testament to his love for all living things.
John was preceded in death by his father, John E. Cary, yet he carried his memory with him throughout his days. He was a dedicated employee of Gable, formerly known as Gable Signs, serving as a custom sign fabricator. for an impressive 39 years. His commitment to his work was matched by his passion for hobbies such as hunting, crabbing, fishing, boating, bottle hunting, and antique shopping. In his later years, John found peace in feeding and watching the birds, finding solace in nature's beauty.
John will be remembered fondly for his excellent sense of humor. He loved joking around and would often include his friends and family in his shenanigans. His uncanny nature enriched the lives of all who knew him.
John's faith was an integral part of his life, attending the Bible Church of Lakeshore for 20 plus years and then later, Lighthouse Church in Glen Burnie, MD, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. In earlier years, he participated in the Choir and also attended Baltimore School of the Bible for serveral years. His generosity and kindness extended beyond family and friends, and he would have been honored by donations made in his memory to the
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate John's life during an evening visitation at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Monday, April 14th, 2025, between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 6:00 pm.
John Allen Cary Sr. will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of love, devotion, and kindness will continue to live on through those he touched during his vibrant life.
