Peter Reid Obituary

Peter St. John Reid died on Monday, July 21, 2025 at his home in Baltimore, MD. Born in Lincolnshire, England in 1945, he was the second son of Leonard Henry and Elizabeth Sasse Reid.

Peter's life of adventure began on a tea estate in Assam, India, where he spent his early childhood before joining his older brother, Timothy, at boarding school in Northern Ireland.

He then matriculated at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before joining the 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles. His distinguished military career led him to active duty in the Far East. Peter entered civilian life in Hong Kong after retiring from the British Army as a captain. A few years later, his professional aspirations took him to New York City, where he was hired by Titan Steel Corporation in 1975. Over the course of his 38-year career at Titan, he led the company in executive positions including Executive Vice President and President. He met and married Sharon Elizabeth Summer in 1988, and they moved shortly afterwards to Baltimore, MD to begin their family.

Peter was an adventurer, exhaustive reader, and a gifted athlete. Particularly accomplished on the rugby field, he played for his schools and club teams all over the world. Beyond rugby, he loved skiing, windsurfing, squash, and golf. His cheeky humor, joie de vivre, and quiet love will be missed by his family and many dear friends.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sharon, his three sons, Andrew (Jean Prentice) of Nashville, TN, Ian (Emily) of Baltimore, MD, and James Campbell of New York City, as well as his grandson, Peter St. John Reid II of Nashville, TN.

A private family memorial will be held in Sag Harbor, NY.
