Josephine Hadad Obituary

JOSEPHINE ANN HADAD Josephine Ann Hadad, 88, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, in Lakewood, Colorado surrounded by her family. Josephine was born in Russell, Colorado on October 20, 1935, to Joseph & Annie Slavec. They moved to the coal camps in Delagua, Colorado where Joseph was a miner, and eventually moved to Trinidad, Colorado. Josephine attended Trinidad High School and graduated salutatorian of her class. Upon graduating, Josephine worked at Hausman Drug Company. She met the love of her life George Hadad, and they were married on May 4, 1963. After marrying George, Josephine worked in the family business Hadad Motor Sales (later J&J Motors) for over fifty years. She was active in various organizations within the community and held a leadership role in all of them. Josephine was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Catholic Daughters, and Order of the Eastern Star, and active in Holy Trinity Parish serving on the parish council and as Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed bowling and participated in the annual city tournament for over fifty years. Playing bridge with her bridge club, making beautiful cakes, fixing jigsaw puzzles, sewing, and crocheting were things she enjoyed. The beautiful afghans that she made are some of her family's most cherished gifts, as they were made with an abundance of love. In keeping with her Slovenian heritage, she made the most delicious potica for holidays and all family gatherings. No matter how busy she was, she was first and foremost a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In 2020, Josephine decided to move to the Village at Belmar in Lakewood, CO in their independent living units to be closer to her family. In the short time that she was at the Village, she impacted so many residents and staff members and took full advantage of all the various available activities. The kind words that the family has received from both these new friends and so many longtime friends in the Trinidad community were how her smile and kindness lit up the room and what an elegant, beautifully dressed lady she was. Josephine is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years George Hadad, her parents Joseph and Annie Slavec, father and mother-in-law Sam & Mary Hadad, sister Frances (Larry) Sebben, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Hadad and Marjorie (Mitchel) Kraker, and brother-in-law Joseph Incitti. She is survived by her three daughters, Ann Marie (Daniel) Milinazzo, Jean (Jerry) Iuppa, and Cindy (Steven) DiPaola along with six grandchildren, Christopher (Lauren) Milinazzo & Ryan (Jennifer) Milinazzo, Allison (Scott) Scott & Lauren (Joel) Lenhart, Nicholas (Lucy) DiPaola & Camille DiPaola. Josephine was also blessed with five great-grandchildren who she adored spending time with. Beau, Collins, & McKinley Milinazzo, Dominic Milinazzo, and Sophia Lenhart. Josephine is also survived by her brother-in-law Joseph Hadad, niece Renee Hadad (Tom) Cichon, nephew Mitch (Pat) Kraker, and sisters Rose Blatnik, Louise Slavec, Shirley Incitti, and brother Joseph (Cathy) Slavec. Nieces and nephews Lawrence (Brook) Sebben, Dean (Christine) Sebben, Rodger (Jennifer) Blatnik, Sherri (Anthony Trujillo) Incitti, Mario (Carol) Incitti, Dan (Nichole) Slavec, Andrew Slavec and several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Common Spirit St. Anthony Hospital for taking such good care of her in her final days. The comfort and compassion that they showed to Josephine and her family made this huge loss a little easier. Pallbearers are Christoper Milinazzo, Ryan Milinazzo, Nick DiPaola, Scott Scott, Joel Lenhart, Joey Salvato. Visitation is June 4 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Comi Funeral Home. A rosary will be held on June 5 at 9:00 a.m. at Comi Funeral Home followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and interment at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Shriners Hospitals for Children, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Josephine's memory.

We miss you as a neighbor, every day. It was always a pleasure to see you out working in your yard. Always amazed seeing you shovel snow.

Ann, Jean, Cindy and families,
Your mom was such a beautiful, kind, gracious woman. She was very sweet at welcoming people into her home, and I have fond memories of her during our Rainbow Girls´ days.
My sympathies to you all. I pray that the Lord will give you all that you need during this time-peace, comfort, and arms to hold you.
