Janice Hoover Obituary

Janice Rae Hoover, 88, Falls Creek, was called to heaven on Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Born April 6, 1936, at home in Smithtown, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruby (Wells) Smith.

Jan was a homemaker. In her early adult years, Jan spent most of her time caring for her family. As she grew older, she found a love for bowling. This hobby gave her friendships that would last the rest of her life. In addition to bowling, Jan loved caring for flowers. Any time someone drove by her house, they could always expect it to be beautiful with flowers all around.

Although she loved bowling and flowers, the most important thing to her was her family. Her role as mom, grandma, and great-grandma kept her very busy. She made sure to never miss out on any of life's special moments.

Jan left phones, stores, and televisions behind, packed up her five children and spent summers at camp. This was all so she and her children could spend time with their beloved husband/dad, Harold "Hudge" Hoover. He preceded Jan in death on July 26, 2014.

After her husband's passing, a special friend, Edgar Vance and his family, held a special place in her heart.

Jan's upbeat personality and genuine love will be missed by all, but especially those she was closest to.

Jan is survived by her sons, Rick Hoover, DuBois, Doug Hoover and his companion, Sharon, Falls Creek, and Mike (Karen) Hoover, Falls Creek; daughter, Pam Hoover (Bill LeFever), DuBois; stepchildren, Toni (Charlie) McKibben, Texas, and Lance Hoover-Pifer, DuBois; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Phyllis Allen, DuBois, Patty Snell, Falls Creek, and Cheri Smith, Troutville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jan was preceded in death by her son, Jim Hoover, daughters-in-law, Sherry Hoover and Kim Pifer, sisters, Lorraine, Mona, and Barb, and brother, Billy.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. from the funeral chapel with Minister Keith Newell officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
