Walter Mowrey Obituary

Walter "Dan" Mowrey, 88, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away during the early morning hours of January 17, 2021, while a resident of the DuBois Village.

He was born on January 18, 1932, to the late Homer F. and Charlotte (Weary) Mowrey in Hormtown, PA.

He attended Beechwoods High School.

Dan married Emma Jane Bowlby on October 6, 1951; Emma preceded him in passing in 2012.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and an associate member of the American Legion, both in Reynoldsville. He worked as a breeding tech for Western Pennsylvania Breeding Corporation in Clarion, PA, for 22 years. He went on to become an insurance agent for PFA for 26 years before his retirement.

Dan is survived by one sister, Evelyn Grant of Brockway, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in passing by two brothers, Homer Mowrey Jr. and Mervin Mowrey; and two sisters, Betty Crawford and Valjean Kennedy.

Services will be held privately by the family and have been entrusted to the Snyder – d'Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA, 15851.

Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Township, Jefferson County, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hormtown Community Center, 3325 Route 1830, Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
