Wayne Blotzer Obituary
He was born on January 14, 1934, the son of the late John E. Blotzer, Jr. and Catherine (Lemon) Blotzer.
Formerly of Plum Borough and Monroeville, Wayne had most recently resided in Brookville. A 1951 graduate of Turtle Creek High School, Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, completing active duty during the Korean War. Following his service, he was employed by Mesta Machine Company in the security department from 1955 until 1985. He later worked with the DuBois Medical Center security department from 1989 until 1999.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Marian (Kulakowski) Blotzer of Brookville; his children, W. David Blotzer of Plum and Deborah (Mark) Hedeen of Brookville; and six grandchildren, Justin (Mandi) Olbeter, Heather Hedeen, Shannon Hedeen, Cory D. Blotzer, Brett Hedeen, and Karli (James) Held. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Jayce, Noah, Malela, Winter Rose, Hope, Vera, and Maria. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Paulette Stone; nephews, Walter (Connie) and Bill Danko; extended family members Karen, Pete, and Zach Zemba; and close friends Bob and Scheldean Jose, and Joe, and Art Schrecongost.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Claudia Danko; daughter-in-law, Ruthanne Blotzer; and his father- and mother-in-law, Walter and Mary Kulakowski.
Wayne will be remembered for his devotion to family, his strong work ethic, and his lifelong loyalty to friends and community.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Avenue, Irwin, PA 15642. Prayers of transfer will take place Friday 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin, with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Wayne's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
