Dennis A. Hamilton, 76, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born August 22, 1948 in Henry County to the late Marcus and Barbara (Turpin) Hamilton.
Dennis worked at the Chrysler Corporation and retired in 2001 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Whittier Lane Baptist Church where he served as a greeter. He also narrated and acted in several church plays and was known as the Candyman to all the children in the church. Dennis was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed fishing and storytelling. He was a self-taught handyman. Dennis loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianna (Snyder) Hamilton; three children, Derrick (Amber) Hamilton, Deven (Caroline) Hamilton and Danielle Hamilton (Fiancé Rudy Yturralde), all of New Castle; special friends, Jack and Jennifer McCrobie of New Castle; 17 Grandchildren, Dylan, Savannah and Lucy Hamilton, Jesse (Hope) Lee, Max Bridges-Hamilton, Davon Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Zadyn Hamilton, Jaidlyn Hamilton, Kaeson Hamilton and Kodah Evans Hamilton, Becca (Michael) Harbison, Elizabeth McCrobie, Brooke (Damon) Doubman, Jared (Kaleigh) McCrobie, Justin McCrobie and Faith McCrobie; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Doubman, Ella-Mae Lee and Archer Harbison and one on the way, Colton Lee; sister, Karen (Nick) Erlach of New Castle; brother, Tim (Karen) Hamilton of New Castle; sister-in-law, Denise (Barry) Abell-Monrovia; a niece and several nephews.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Brother Frank Wood officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Whittier Lane Baptist Church Missionary Fund, 1371 Whittier Lane, New Castle, IN 47362.
