Ronald L. Godsey, 86, of New Castle passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at IU Health Ball Hospital. He was born October 31, 1938 in Richmond, the son of the late Wayne and Thelma (McFarland) Godsey.
Ron retired from The Courier Times after over 30 years of service. He then worked at AG Express for over 10 years. He was a former member of the New Castle Optimist Club and a member of St. James Episcopal Church. An avid car show enthusiast, he won several 1st place trophies for his Chevy. He also enjoyed NASCAR Races and was very fond of his little dog, Tilly.
He is survived by two daughters, Jill (Richard) Stephens of New Castle and Julie G. (Dale) Byers of New Castle; two sons, Gary W. (Kristy) Godsey of Richmond and Eric L. Godsey of Clermont, FL; grandsons, Joshua D. (Melissa) Stephens, Jacob J.W. (fiancé, Chelsea and her daughter, Maggie) Stephens, Clinton C. (Christine) Byers; two great grandsons, Wyatt T.R. Stephens and Calvin Elwood Byers; sister, Bonnie McClain of Richmond; sister-in-law, Beverly Burgess of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon J. Godsey; and two sons, Mike and Mark Godsey.
Services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at St. James Episcopal Church in New Castle with Father Brown Mujete officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday at St. James Episcopal Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Drive, New Castle, IN 47362. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
