Elsie Elizabeth Tomlin, 87, of Dorchester passed away with her family by her side on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Loyalton of Cape May in Cape May Court House.
Born on March 9, 1923, to the late Albert and Julie Fowler, Elsie spent her childhood in Delmont. She was a homemaker for a large part of her life, but also worked briefly at Woodbine State School, Allen's Nursing Home and Wheaton's. Elsie enjoyed spending her time traveling, camping and making crafts. She was a member of South Jersey Night Owls, Rolling On Retirees, Good Sam Camping Club, NCHA and Delmont United Methodist Church, and often attended Dorchester United Methodist Church.
Elsie is survived by daughters, Judith Thomas (David) of Spring Hill, Fla., and Newfield, Patricia Veach of Dorchester and Ruth Ann Parsons (Russell) of Dorchester; beloved grandchildren, Stephanie Shropshire (Robert) of Fairton, Deborah Thomas of Spring Hill, Fla., Michael Thomas Sr. of Millville, Elisabeth Thomas of Blackwood, William Veach Jr. (Jodie) of Port Elizabeth, Nancy Fowler (Jerry) of Eldora and Nathaniel Parsons (Jessica Keeney) of Dorchester; great-grandchildren, Emily, Gavin and Faith Shropshire, Ashley and Madison Fowler, and Michael Thomas Jr.; and a brother, Albert Fowler (Lillian) of Cape May Court House.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, James Tomlin Sr.; a son, James Tomlin, Jr.; and parents, Albert and Julia Fowler.
As per her request, services were private for immediate family members at Leesburg Cemetery, and were officiated by the Rev. William Hess.
Arrangements were made by Hoffman Funeral Homes in Leesburg.
