Kathryn Hansen Obituary

Kathryn "Cheryl" Hansen, age 80, of Lakeview, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born in Edmore on July 22, 1943, the daughter of Dr. I.S. Lilly and Betty Wood Lilly. As a young girl, Cheryl developed a deep love for traveling. Her parents would often take her to Florida and Cuba to stay for weeks at a time. When she was 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Rich Hansen. That date was March 21, 1959, together they had three sons and shared almost 65 years filled with love, fun and living. As a young couple, Cheryl and Rich would travel to Colorado and Utah to snow ski. Cheryl was very devoted to her family but found time to also maintain a full-time career. Cheryl was employed with Frigidaire for 43 years as a Senior Buyer. Cheryl was passionate about cooking and could recreate any meal just from taste. She loved cooking homemade meals for her family and the holidays. She also enjoyed canning, maintaining a garden, and deer hunting. She shot her very last buck at the age of 79. Cheryl always kept herself busy and over the past 20 years attended water aerobics with her pool pals at Montcalm Community College with whom she shared a special bond.
Cheryl will be missed by her husband of 65 years, Rich Hansen; sons Doc Hansen, Tom (Amy) Hansen and Joe (Kim) Hansen; grandchildren, Andy (Jenny) Bills, Lisa (Mike Ireland) Parker, Kate (Aaron Berkompas) Perkins, Isaac (Brittney) Hansen, Raisha Hansen, Shaleigh Hansen; great grandchildren, Braylon, Marleigh, Conner, Ada, Aiyden, Austyn, Ainsley, Alex, Aiden, Carter, Riley, Bobby, Ryker, Draven, Dante, Mordekai; brother-in-law, Bob Hansen; nieces, Crista Hansen and Nedra (Lenny) Rosen; nephews, John Lilly and Dan (Marion) Lilly and her beloved pets Lucy the chocolate lab and Matt the Cat. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ned Lilly; sister, Maxine Hansen; and sister-in-law, Janette Hatt.
Celebration of Life for Cheryl will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Humane Society or Cannonsville Critters. Memories and messages of condolence may be shared at www.hurstfh.com
