Carolyn Pillar Obituary

Montville - Carolyn A. Pillar, 82, a longtime Oakdale resident, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018.

Born in Elba, Ala., on June 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Haley Adron and Alice Grace (Gissendanner) Whittle, and the loving wife of Robert Pillar for 46 years.

Carolyn worked at Kaplan Travel before becoming a mail carrier and clerk at the Montville Post Office. She loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas and the yearly trips to Newport with the girls where there was always lots of fun and laughter. She enjoyed listening to music, loved animals, the outdoors, and treasured family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed and forever loved.

In addition to her husband Robert, she is survived by two daughters, Debbie Wiech and husband, Bob and Deni Baton and husband, Ron; son, Jason Pillar and wife, Ilise; grandchildren, Angela, Brandy, Heather, Shaley, Rob, and Brayden; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ayden, Madeleine and Gavin; and her sister, Rehba Ragan and husband, Donnie.

She was predeceased by her brother, Jimmy Whittle.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Carolyn always had a smile. She loved her bird. I remember visiting one day and the bird kept talking and talking. It was fascinating. I also went on one of those Newport trips. I have good memories of that.She will be missed by all. Ann& Tom
