Frederick Sparen Obituary

Groton - Frederick H. Sparen, 66, of Groton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Fairview in Groton after a long illness.

Mr. Sparen was born on April 28, 1952, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Henrik Sparen and Anna Barbara Minickene.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Robin Hernandez; his son, Timothy Sparen; his grandchildren; and loyal companion, Scooter.

His son, Nicholas Sparen proceeded him.

Fred attended Mohegan Community College and was a self-employed painter and plasterer who worked on Fishers Island and around New London county. In his spare time, he enjoyed boxing, fishing and the theater. He was an avid weightlifter, gardener and loved spending time at the beach, breathing in the salt air and feeling the sun on his face.

His wife would like to thank the staff at Fairview and the Yale-New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness over the years.
