Jack Guilfoyle Obituary

Ashford - Jack Guilfoyle, 53, of Ashford, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

He was born in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland, son of the late Loughlin and Kathleen (Woods) Guilfoyle. In 1983, Jack moved to the United States to start a family. He was a devoted father and a passionate man who enjoyed travel and lived every moment to the fullest.

His warm and vibrant personality touched all those who met him. Jack's natural charisma was seen by all, especially in his career as a dedicated salesman. Jack started his own business and in the process of working with his clients, they became his closest friends. Jack was a devout Catholic who attended weekly Mass and held his faith close at heart.

Jack is survived by his children, Melissa, Kyle, Justin, and Angela; as well as his siblings and their spouses, Marie and Christy Dunne, Ann Small, Jacinta and Ben Collins, Peter Guilfoyle, Catherine and Larry Carroll, Lockie Guilfoyle and Angela Guilfoyle. Jack will be missed by his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Jack's burial will take place in Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland, where he joins his late mother, father, Mick Small and Declan Boland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are greatly appreciated so as to assist the family in his return and burial in his homeland of Ireland. Contributions may be made to The John Guilfoyle Fund or the children, at Santander Bank, 140 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT 06033.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of Jack's passing. We enjoyed delightful conversations with Jack, especially about Ireland. Our sons were planning a trip to Ireland and spoke with Jack on several occasions. We ran into him just a few weeks ago having dinner. He was a kind soul, fun-loving and a gentleman always. He is gone far too soon. We will miss him.
