James Londregan Obituary

Waterford - James Allen Londregan, 80, of Waterford, died at home Saturday morning, June 14, 2025. He was born in New London, Feb. 5, 1945, the son of Timothy and Agnes Prezkop Londregan. He married Lynn Allyn, who survives him, Oct. 9, 1971, at St. Paul's Church in Waterford. He is also survived his son Allyn Londregan; daughter-in-law Heather Kilmartin; and two grandchildren, Timmy and Danny.

Mr. Londregan graduated from Waterford High School in 1963, and went on to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), where he obtained his B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1967, followed by a Master of Engineering at UConn in 1972. He later completed the management development program at the Hartford Graduate Center in 1988. Mr. Londregan worked for his entire career as a mechanical engineer at the Electric Boat Company in Groton, where he was employed for 42 years until retirement.

Mr. Londregan was also an active member of the local community, serving as member and chair of the Waterford Conservation Commission. In addition, he was a founding member of the Thames Ski Club and an active member of the Thames Yacht Club and Cruising Club of New England. After retirement, he helped to manage the shipyard at Fort Trumbull Marina for many years.

Jim enjoyed sailing and skiing with his family most of all, spending many happy seasons on Block Island and in Vail, Colo. In his spare time, Jim was the consummate handyman, able to fix almost anything. He always kept himself busy and was ever willing to lend a helping hand to others, especially his family. His warm smile and gentle, loving nature will be dearly missed.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery will be private. A Celebration of Life is planned at a later date with details to follow. Condolences may be shared on Mr. Londregan's memorial page at www.neilanfuneralhome.com.
