Joan married her childhood sweetheart, Charles Banta Sr., and they enjoyed 44 wonderful years of marriage.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, her sister, Patricia Kelly Crowley, and grandson, Timothy K. Rice.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Harman and her husband, Bill, and brother, James King and his wife, Pamela. Joan is also survived by her six children, Deborah Grenier and her husband, Maurice, Charles Banta Jr. and his wife, Pearl, Katherine Rice and her husband, Daniel, Christopher James Banta, Caroline Sylvia and her husband, Dave, and Jacqueline Blaise and her husband, Dennis. Joan also leaves behind 11 wonderful grandchildren who affectionally call her "Grandmier."
Joan's passion was the Dallas Cowboys, and during the summer she was always by the pool on her deck enjoying her family and watching a Red Sox game. Joan had many fond memories in her life and being with her late husband, Charlie; playing slots at the casino was her favorite. She will be sadly missed by all who touched her life.

My Mom and my very best friend, we were as close as a mother and daughter could be and should have been. I will forever miss you. I find comfort having no regrets, We did it all, I had the best parents. I will always be grateful for all the wonderful memories my family will always have, and if I am at least 1/2 the grandmother you were, than I learned something from a very special lady. Be in peace Mom. Love Always Kathy

My Auntie, My Godmother, my heart breaks to know you are no longer with us physically. I know your spirit lives and will forever touch us. I have peace knowing that and Uncle Charlie have been reunited and you can rest after your valiant fight. Rest Auntie, rest now, you've fought long enough. I love you and I will think of you often with heartwarming memories. Be at peace.

My heart is broken from the loss of my loving Grandmeir. You left us way to soon, saying goodbye to you was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I was not ready to let you go, but I know you are at peace with Boompa. The memories I have will live on in my heart forever. You always made everything so special, and I am forever thankful. All the talks, trips and many, many days by the pool are priceless to me. I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful lady in my life. You can rest now my friend, I know we will meet again.
Love you forever, Kim

My mother has stood by me through my struggles and helped me raise a beautiful daughter. My brothers, sisters and I had the best upbringing, the best childhood and the best parents anyone could ask for. Today on Easter I remember the way my family would all get together to celebrate. I'll always wish for one more day with my Mom, but I'll always appreciate the time I did have with her. I'll always half expect a tea to be waiting for me when I walk into this house. I take comfort in the fact that my mother is at peace and hope her strength will pass onto us kids so that we may get through this day and all the rest that will pass without her. I love you mom, tell dad hello for me and one day our family will all be together.

My mother was not only a mother, but a best friend to me. She picked me up when I was down and has made me into the person I am today with her guidance and wisdom. I will never forget our time spent on our lower deck watching the red sox by the pool, with chicken cooking on the grill. This house isn't the same without her and I'll miss our evening coffee. My mother was a woman that will be honored and cherished. Truly an angel sent from god to touch our family and now she is where she belongs. With my father. I love you Joanie, my mother, my best friend. I'll be on the deck waiting for that cool breeze mom.

No words will ever be able to describe the way my grandmother has touched my life and the lives of my family. She was the epitomy of a lady, with an air and grace about her that left an impression on anyone she met. A mother, a Grandmeir, a best friend and a sister. She will live on in our hearts and thoughts forever. We know you are holding the hand of your love and your best friend, Grandmeir. Thank you for all that you have done and gave to this family. I love you. Catch it.
