Kelly Carpenteri Obituary
Kelly was born on May 10, 1980, in New London, the daughter of Steven J. Carpenteri and Janet Carpenteri. She was a 1998 graduate of Lyme/Old Lyme High School and attended Western State University. She was employed at the Bee & Thistle Inn, Old Lyme. She enjoyed hiking, camping, and cooking, and her favorite band was "Tool". She loved animals; her bird, Carlos, her cat, Vlad, and her dogs, Skye and Sobi.
Kelly is survived by her parents; her stepmother, Rebecca Cahill Carpenteri and her stepfather, Tyke Foote; her brothers, Dayne R. Steele and Christopher J. Carpenteri, both of Niantic; her maternal grandparents, Alice Sullivan of Waterford and Robert Sullivan of Holland, Mass.; and her paternal grandfather, Salvatore Carpenteri and his wife, Judie, of Old Lyme; her two uncles, Dan Sullivan and Ricky Carpenteri; and her aunt, Debbie Carpenteri; her two cousins, Brittani Morris and Patrick Sullivan; her boyfriend, Nathaniel von Staats; and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her grandmother, Constance Carpenteri and her uncle, Rob Sullivan.
Calling hours will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2006, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Lane, Old Lyme. Burial will be private.
Donations may be made in her memory to Pet Connections Inc., PO Box 1033, Old Lyme CT 06371.

I was so saddened to hear of Kelly's passing. I worked with her at Lyme-Old Lyme high school and always admired her independent thinking and her uniqueness. Although I haven't seen her since graduation, I know that she had many friends that will miss her greatly. To her family I can only pray that you will know God's peace and comfort in this time of sorrow.

Steve and Jan-I don't know if you remember me, but I used to rent an apartment from you in East Lyme with my then husband Dick Meek. We had a daughter, Erin, who used to play with Kelly. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Kelly as a sweet, loving little girl.I still have a picture of her and Erin together. We lost Erin on April 8 of this year, so we know only too well what you are going through. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Jan, As you know we love you and your family very much. We feel such a deep heartache words can't even begin to express. Kelly was a truly beautiful girl inside and out with a tremendous sense of humor, just like you. She will be GREATLY missed!!!!! I know no mother and daughter could ever have a more loving, open, honest relationship or be best friends like you were. We are so saddened by the loss, words can hardly express. Kelly was so special, her impish smile & laugh could light up a room. We will remember her fondly forever. kelly meant the world to me and my children Melissa & James. Although her life ended her spirit and awesome friendship will always be in our hearts. Remembering her with dignity and honor we were all blessed to have her in oour lives and "family". She was like a sister to James and Melissa. Kelly IS a beautiful woman, inside and out. She IS, because she will always be. Kelly was truly unlike any other young woman her age. She defied the principles that most her age embrace. She was neither superficial nor materialistic. She adored children and treated them with respect and love. A unique and old soul, her short but intense impact on my life and that of my young daughter will never be forgotten or unappreciated. We love you Kelly. I will never forget your laugh. That is what I hope to carry with me. Help me with that as I struggle.

We will miss you and your contagious laugh, your sparkling smile, and your way of making people always feel good. You will always be that little cutie to me. I cant believe this and yet I have too. I am sad inside and feel as though part of me left with you. In my heart I always considered you one of my own. When I finally had children and saw you later in life, I was excited for my own daughter to grow up and be so confident and sure of herself , as you were. Seeing you always made me feel so happy, kind of like I was hugging your uncle again because I knew just how much he loved you dearly. Working with your mom was such a blessing because I felt close to Rob there too. Your family always made me feel loved, and I am grateful for having that in my life. God knew how much I missed your uncle and now he will know how much I will miss you too. One of the prayers I will ask of God is for your mom to have dreams of you and feel peace and comfort, that when she wake's up, she feel empowered to make it through another day because you hugged her in her dreams.
