Mary Bood Obituary

Mystic - Mary Lee (McGinnis) Bood, 81, of Mystic died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, following a brief illness.

She was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward and Geraldine (O'Connor) McGinnis.

Mary Lee attended Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic School in Punxsutawney, Pa. It was during her time there she met her first love and first husband, Lawrence E. Luketich.

In the 60s, she and Lawrence moved to Mystic. After ten years of marriage to Larry, Mary Lee rediscovered love when she met William Bood. Mary Lee and William were married in the early 70s and remained in love until William's death in 2001.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mary Lee was happiest when those around her were happy. In her eyes, trips to the Casino, solving crosswords, even meals, were best when shared with loved ones. Nothing made her glow more than hearing news of her children and grandchildren (except, perhaps, watching the NY Giants score a touchdown). She also had a soft spot for cats, adopting and loving many throughout the years, making each and every one of them members of her family.

Mary Lee is survived by her five children, Lawrence E. "Larry" Luketich Jr. and his fiancée Carol Mullaney, Thomas Luketich (Janet), Patrick Luketich (Michele), Michael Luketich (Christine) and Deanna Luketich; her five siblings, Anne Gallitte, Patricia and Edward McGinnis, Jr. (Marilyn), Ellen Vendel (Daniel) and Dr. Kathleen McGinnis-Fu (Jeffrey); her numerous grandchildren, Scout, T., Amanda Luketich (Scott Meyer), Elizabeth, Megan, Alex, Daniel Luketich (Paige), Joseph, Rebecca, Timothy, William, Corey, Christopher and Dominic; and her beloved cat, Milo. She was predeceased by a sister, Judy McGinnis and a grandson, Michael Luketich II.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic. A service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary Lee's memory to the CT Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Rd., Quaker Hill, CT. 06375.
