We look to the inspiration of Phoebe's strength and courage to guide us through this time of healing as we cope with her loss.
Born Aug. 30, 1972 in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Cathy (Apgar) Clancy and Willard "Butch" Jones, she had lived in East Hampton for the past three years. Phoebe had earned a bachelor's degree in environmental management from Rochester Institute of Technology and her master's degree in management from Rensselaer. She had been employed by Hamilton Sunstrand as an environmental engineer.
Phoebe leaves her loving husband, David Foster, of East Hampton; her father, her mother and step father, Tim Clancy, of Clifton, N.Y.; a devoted sister, Abby Jones, of New Britain; two step sons, Alex and Grayson, of Newington, and a step daughter, Rachel, of Newington; and three step sisters, Meaghan Clancy-Shields, Bridget Clancy-Stasonis, and Molly Clancy.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. in First Congregational Church East Hampton, with the Rev. Thomas Kennedy officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, on Friday evening from 4 to 8.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hartford Hospital's Palliative Care Unit or Breast Cancer Clinical Research, or to Caringbridge.org.

Dave, Cathy, Abby, Butch,
My grief is huge and I can't imagine yours who must feel the greatest loss. We will all learn to live without her physical presence, but her great spirit will never leave. She circled me last night as I sat in the garden with a soft air and a brief lifting of grief. I hope Dave will always be a part of our family

Dave, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Phoebe. I recevied the message from a friend in CT who knew that I always thought Phoebe was a special person. I remember when the two of you got together I thought you were the perfect match. After reading through Phoebe's Peace I realized how lucky she was to have you by her side through this terrible illness. I also was awe struck by the dedication of her sister Abby and mother Cathy. Dave my thoughts and prayers are with you. Be strong and lean on those who are there to help you.
