Robert Meehan Obituary

Uncasville - Robert Henry "Rob" Meehan Jr., 57, of Waterville, Maine and Uncasville, passed away unexpectedly April 2, 2024. Robert was born April 23, 1966 in Cranston, R.I., the son of Robert H. Meehan Sr. and the late Florence (Orr) Meehan. He was married to Susan (Comeau) Meehan, who survives him.

Robert was a lieutenant (badge #118) with the North Kingstown Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 2019, and a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters. He loved to ski and was a longtime member of the National Ski Patrol, most recently loving his retirement job at Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton, Maine. Above all, he valued family and loved and supported his children in their Mohegan culture. His unofficial tribal name was "Just Daddy." If there was a call for volunteers, Rob was always the first hand up, even with his Cyndimae in tow.

In addition to his loving wife Susan, he is survived by his children, Cass Meehan-Marinich (Sara), Corrine Meehan, Catrina Meehan (Eli) and Emma Haslip; and by his siblings: Robin Meehan-Halloran (John), Richard Meehan (Michelle), Regina Kilday (Tom), Mike Meehan, Nicole Meehan, Kathleen Regan-Pyne (Roy), Beth Regan (Geri), Joann Regan, Tim Regan, and Joseph Comeau; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his daughter Cyndimae Martha Meehan.

Rob was raised in the Mishnock area of West Greenwich and had close ties to the community throughout his life, from volunteering with the Lake Mishnock Volunteer Fire Department when he was younger, to being Santa to neighborhood children for many years and more recently, serving the community with the Coventry-West Greenwich Lions Club.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Mishnock Barn, 200 Mishnock Road, West Greenwich, R.I., with a short service at 5:45 p.m. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Fort Shantok Burial Ground in Montville, with a collation to follow at Bella Fiore Restaurant, 543 W. Thames Street, Norwich. To leave a message of condolence for Robert's family, please visit his memorial at www.montvillefuneralhome.com. The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, 53 Rte. 32, Montville, is entrusted with arrangements.

So sorry to the Meehan family. I lived in Mishnock for 39 years and knew all the Meehans. They were and are wonderful people. Rob helped my husband, my mother and myself to the hospital and also checked in on us after. You don´t find that in everyone.
He will be greatly missed

I worked with Lt. Meehan at NKFD. Robert always had a pleasant and positive attitude, and I enjoyed our conversations at work. My condolences to his family during this difficult time.
