Robert Nielsen Obituary
Often his weekends were spent on the family farm at Barbour's Corner, Bloomfield, the site of a family dairy, Chris Nielsen and Sons that began in the early 1920s. Attending local Hartford schools, he graduated from Weaver H.S. in 1955 and then Colby College in1959.
He began his insurance career at the Phoenix of Hartford and eventually had his own agency in New Canaan until retirement.
His wife, Wendy E. Nielsen, survives after a marriage of 64 years. Their son, John C. Nielsen, and wife, Amy reside in Scottsdale, Ariz. with their children, Kacey Elaine (20), Robert James (17), and Delaney Toys (13). Their daughter, Stacey Elaine and husband Craig M. Lewis live in Alexandria, Va. with their children, Tanner Ryan (20) and Gavin Christian (18).
Calling hours will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 23, 2025, at the Niantic Community Church, Pennsylvania Ave., with the service at 2 p.m. Reception will follow.
