Traci Hart Obituary

Colchester - Traci Beth Hart, 39, of Jurach Road, wife of Darryl A. Hart, died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at her home.

She was born on Nov. 27, 1971 in Norwich, the daughter of Michael and Gloria (Maplesden) Stergio of Salem.

Traci was a graduate of Montville High School class of 1989. She received her bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University and a master's degree in education from Sacred Heart University.

After college, she became a first grade teacher at the Charles E. Murphy School in Oakdale, she loved being a teacher and treasured all of her students. Traci touched countless young lives during her tenure at Murphy School. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and spending time with her dearest friends, but her greatest joy was being a devoted mother to her two children and being involved in all the family activities.

Traci married her high school sweetheart, Darryl Hart, on June 29, 1996 in Montville. They enjoyed fifteen years of unconditional love with each other.

She has been a resident of Colchester since 2001 and was a parishioner of St. Andrew's Church.

In addition to her loving husband, Darryl, and parents, Mike and Gloria Stergio, she is survived by her children, Seth Michael Hart and Riley Madison Hart; sister, Kristin Taylor of Montville; and grandparents, Michael and Terry Stergio and Jeanette Maplesden of Montville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Her family asks that donations in her memory be directed to Darryl Hart, c/o Dime Bank, 290 Salem Tpke., Norwich, CT 06360 to be used to establish a trust fund for her children's education.

To Traci's Beloved Family,
Our deepest sympathies to you. Traci was a beautiful lady who nourished so many youngsters and gave them love and self-confidence as they started their school careers. Some of my sons were the lucky ones to have had her and loved her. My favorite memory of Traci is the 5th grade student/faculty basketball games. Traci had her left hand extended outward about hip level as she dribbled the ball gracifully down the court with her right hand and proceeded to shoot the ball as her back leg came up into an arabesque finish. A true lady inside and out! She was a beautiful gift to so many. God Bless you.

Kristen and family; It's true you can tell a lot about someone when they're gone. Just reading all these notes says she was a wonderful person who loved to laugh, a great mother, a friend to everyone, and was lucky enough to be married to the love of her life. A full life, sadly cut too short. May the love of friends and family carry you through the rest of your lives, and may the beautiful memories she's left for all of you bring you the comfort you need..

September 17, 2011

Dear Hart Family and Stergio Family,
Our deepest sympathies are with you. Each time I saw Tracy at a school related function, she was always smiling and laughing. With all she had to endure, she stayed positive to those around her. She was a model of strength and kindness. I remember her attending her nephew's basketball games and cheering him on. I know from speaking to family and friends that she was a gift to everyone that knew her. God be with all of you.

These past few weeks I have been running around complaining with so many things to do, places to go, people to see etc....then I hear of Traci's passing. Immediately I stop everything and I am overwhelmed with sadness about this and a rush of embarrassment for complaining about my life.
After saying prayers for Traci's family, my thoughts took me back to jr high and high school. Sooo many good memories, especially because MjrHS and MHS were so small, we all really knew eachother. Traci's sweet smile and giddy laugh were part of my everyday (thank you ABC seating charts). Eventhough I have only seen Traci a few times since graduation, I can't help but feel a huge hollowness in my heart knowing what a wonderful person she was, how unfair this is, and how many people's lives will never be the same without her.
Please know that I pray for all of you. I pray that happy memories of her enter your dreams to help you rest at night and that you may see the signs of love from beyond. It may be a gentle rainfall, a beautiful sunset, a sweet smell on an autumn day, or a giddy laugh from across a crowded room... whatever it may be that captures your attention, you will feel her love embrace you at that moment. Through your laughter and tears, I hope you find peace.

Traci was a wonderful, caring person who touched so many lives both young and old in such a positive, strong and loving way. We send our deepest condolences to your family and Thank you for sharing Traci with us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with your familes during this very difficult time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Darryl, I was so happy to hear Traci was going to be my son's first grade teacher. In such a short time, she helped Aaron grow in so many ways. He truly loves his "Mrs. Hart". Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time.
