Eddie Ortiz Obituary
Eddie Ortiz passed away Jan. 12, 2015. Eddie was born Dec. 24, 1952, to Rose and Eduardo Ortiz in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in Whittier, Callifornia. He married Donna Candelaria Ortiz on Aug. 2, 1975. He was the proud father of three children; Eddie Ortiz III, Tina Marie (Myles) Larrison and Lindsay Nicole Ortiz. The family moved to the desert in 1990. Eddie and his sister Blanca Merchain opened a Mexican restaurant, The Great Tamale, and later expanded their business to include a catering truck. He sold these businesses to return the roots of his true career passion, masonry. He started Ortiz Masonry and is proud to have Eddie Jr. carrying the business on. Eddie's greatest joy came from being the grandpa to Hailey and Seth. He was proud to be their grandpa and watched their many activities with pride and joy. Eddie was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by many loving family members. He leaves behind his mother, Rose; his dedicated and loving wife, Donna; and his three children, Eddie Ortiz III, Tina (Myles) Larrison and Lindsay Ortiz. He is survived as well by his three sisters, Blanca Merchain, Rosie Ortiz and Melissa Casale; and his two precious grandchildren, Hailey and Seth. Eddie will be remembered and very greatly missed by numerous friends as well. To know him was to love him. Services in Eddie's honor will be a viewing Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wiefels, 690 S. Vella Road, Palm Springs. Funeral Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 2800 E. Ramon Road, Palm Springs.

Our condolences to Eddies family. Mike and I fondly remember the trip to the Four Seasons in Costa Rica with Donna and Eddie. Getting the suitcases in our car when getting back late and no cabs at PSP. Eddies fantastic cooking too!

Donna & family sorry for your loss Eddie was one of the good guys a good friend I will miss him, even though we were 3000 miles we talked once a week old times, cars, old girl friends Imperials Car Club, what ever we could talk for hours.
