George B. Glickley

1919 - 2012

George B. Glickley, 93, of Palm Desert, Calif., passed away December 23, 2012 in Palm Springs, Calif. He was born March 10, 1919 to Albert Glickley and Elise (Von Buckow) Glickley in New York. George owned and operated Modern Steel Heat Treating Co. in Chicago, Ill. for 50 years; was owner and developer of Del Safari CC (now Avondale CC) in Palm Desert for 16 years; was Co Developer/Co-Owner and served on the Board of Directors for the Bermuda Dunes Airport; he was the first elected president of Bermuda Dunes CC; and one of the Board of Directors during the early years of the Bob Hope Classic. He provided murals for OLPH Catholic Church, as well as a school bus and other necessities to OLPH in the 1960's. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church. George is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ursula Fischer Glickley of Palm Desert, Calif.; daughters: Sandra (Thomas) Haggerty of Flossmoor, Ill.; Dr. Robin Redfern of San Diego, Calif.; son, George M. Glickley of Palm Desert, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rusty Glickley and granddaughter, Rychelle Maria Redfern. A family reception will be held at 10:30 am followed by Memorial Mass at 11:30AM on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private.
