Indian Wells - Virginia Lee Ahlmeyer passed away peacefully on November 20, 2018 in Indian Wells, CA. Her spirit is carried on by her husband Ed; her four children, Debra, Ed (Andrea), Leslie (Brad), Lisa (Tom), six grandchildren, Scott, Samantha, Haley, Cara, Lindsay and David, and one sister, Sharon Wolf. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
Virginia was born on September 9, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was the daughter of John and Alma Kreuch. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated with a business degree and displayed proficiency in shorthand. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Huskers. "Go Big Red" She married her loving husband Ed while he was in medical school, and worked as a secretary.
She assumed the roles of a supportive wife and mother to her four children. She volunteered for various organizations. These were Redlands Community Hospital where she helped patients, as a "Pink Lady", Ticktockers in which many hours were spent contributing to the National Charity League, and helping with the Little League.
She was an active member and sang in the church choir for many years. There were many fun choir parties and progressive dinners at their home. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. Baking her favorite Christmas cookies and delivering them to special friends was something that brought her joy. Her interests were in interior design, and collecting Hummel figures, pottery, and paintings. Keeping in touch with friends by phoning and sending encouraging notes to let them know she cared was very important to her. She was a loyal listener, caring, and kind friend.
Ed and Virginia loved to travel. Their travels took them to many places around the world. She especially enjoyed cruises. After Ed retired, they enjoyed spending time between Keystone, Colorado and Del Mar, California before moving to Indian Wells in 2005. She really enjoyed desert life. She will be missed by her loving family, relatives and many friends.
Memorials in Virginia's honor can be respectfully made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Palm Desert, CA. A Memorial service to be held on January 5, 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church. 42695 Washington St.
