William McNaughton Obituary

1940 - 2007

William Duncan (Bill) McNaughton, 66, passed away suddenly in Rancho Mirage, CA on Monday, February 26, 2007. Born March 13, 1940 in Brandon, Manitoba, Bill was the devoted son of Chuck and Bud McNaughton who predeceased him. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon, daughters Tracy Benard (David) and Teri McNaughton (Rodney Glover), granddaughters Denae and Laine Benard and by his sister Dianne Brom.

Bill worked with his father in the automobile business from 1964 until the sale of GSL Chev City in 1985, and then at General Supplies Company Limited as Vice President, and then President, until his death. His world revolved around family, friends, business and the game of golf. He held memberships at three clubs, the Calgary Golf and Country Club, The Springs Club and the Desert Island Golf and Country Club, both in Rancho Mirage. He was also a member of the Calgary Petroleum Club. Bill took an active interest in the valuable works done by The Salvation Army (www.salvationarmy.ca) and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (www.hbi.ucalgary.ca).

His family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at the Eisenhower Medical Centre in Rancho Mirage for their

kindness, care and compassion.

Bill was my friend. We only saw each other in the winter at DI. We joked, he helped my golf swing and most of all I enjoyed his smile and warm words. He is a man who will be missed but remembered because he was genuine, sincere and just a great guy.

Dear Sharon and family,
Bill shared many stories of his travels and golf. His pride in his family was always evident. I collected his mail for him while he was gone and always shared a story or two with him when he returned. His quick wit and smile will be missed. I hope your memories will be a comfort to you at this time.

Dear Sharon and Family,
We were Bill's next door "office" neighbours at #750. He was a true gentleman and always very courteous and friendly. We will miss seeing him come back from his walk on Crescent Heights
