August 15, 1957 – January 8, 2015
Ellie Jeannette Laporte, 57, of Bryan, fought for every second of her precious life until she went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2015.
Ellie was born on August 15, 1957, to Marcel Joseph Laporte and Opha B (Wilson) Laporte in Bryan. She graduated from Bryan High School in Bryan in 1975. She earned two degrees from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture, Magna Cum Laude, in 1979, and a Masters of Business Administration degree, Summa Cum Laude, in 1985.
Ellie's career was in finance and banking with her last place of employment being Comerica Bank. She was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Houston, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also involved with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Ellie enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with friends and family, shopping, attending events, eating out, and having fun. She was a life-long supporter and fan of her Texas A&M Aggies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcel Joseph Laporte and Opha B (Wilson) Laporte.
Ellie leaves behind sisters, Tina Nuche and husband Larry, Julie Laporte-Mitchell and husband James, and Rose Laporte and husband Todd Graham; nieces, Callie Wilson and husband Dusty, Rachel Nuche; nephews Ethan Mitchell and Ian Graham; and great-niece, Riley Wilson. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as friends, fellow church members, colleagues, and coworkers.
She will be greatly missed for her boisterous laugh, her keen intellect, her love of family and friends, and her love for God and church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Garrett Lynch with the Baylor College of Medicine for his many years of care and concern for Ellie and most recently, Dr. Erin Fleener with the Cancer Clinic in Bryan. In addition, we would like to thank Brazos Hospice for their excellent care while Ellie was in their inpatient facility. A special appreciation and thanks are given to Marsha and Jeremy Savant for their support of the family throughout Ellie's illness.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice Brazos Valley (www.hospicebrazosvalley.org), Susan G. Komen for the Cure (www.komen.org), and the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). A memorial service for Ellie will be held at a later date.
